Welcome to CADSharp.com’s flagship course, Automating SolidWorks with VBA. This course is designed for anyone who wants to learn to automate with the SolidWorks API using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), including total beginners.
What Makes This Course Unique
This API training is unlike anything else available.
—Beginner friendly. Unlike many courses that assume you already know programming basics, this course assumes you know nothing about programming or the API.
—In-depth. Unlike many books and tutorials that only cover the basics or skip over key topics, this course details every major topic.
—Exclusive content. This course contains hundreds of tips, tricks, and examples that you won’t find in any book or API Help article.
—Accessible. Watch our tutorials anywhere, anytime as long as you have an internet connection.
—Customer-friendly. Have a question about the SolidWorks API? Need guidance on how a topic relates to your project? Shoot us an email and we’ll do our best to get back to you within a day.
Just as importantly, I want to tell you what this training program is NOT:
—This is NOT me merely stepping you through pre-written code. This is a very confusing and inaccurate way to learn the SolidWorks API because it does not reflect at all how macros are actually written. It isn’t enough to see a finished product—you need to know how it was created, from start to finish. This means that you will program alongside me and see the logical progression of outlining a macro, researching what code to use, writing the code, testing the code, and debugging the code.
—This is NOT an abstract lecture about topics irrelevant to you or how things “could” be done. I tell you what you need to know in the most succinct manner possible. Each lesson is packed with content, and in my videos I explain to you the purpose behind every line of code we write, so there is no confusion on your part.
How To Use This Course
Our recommendation is that you watch each lesson and do the homework for each section before moving on to the next section. If you are a beginner with limited time available for learning, we recommend you do one lesson (including homework) a day. Within a few weeks you should be comfortable with the material covered in the first three units. The material in the following units is more complex, so take your time as needed.
If you are already familiar with the basics of the SolidWorks API, you can use this course topically. Simply choose an area that you want to learn more about. Note, however, that some lessons build on one another, and generally the later lessons in a unit assume that you have watched the earlier lessons. The first two units are considered pre-requisites to every other unit.
While you watch the videos, my strong recommendation is that you program at the same time. (Dual monitors would be very helpful here.) If you don’t want to type every line manually, get the completed code or the code snippets from the lesson page and paste it in the VB Editor as we go.
